Wiradjuri Honour Wall

Landmarks and Buildings

Located within Marie Bashir Park in the centre of town, the Wiradjuri Honour Wall stands to honour the people of the Narrungdera Clan who have passed, and the Wiradjuri people of Narrandera Shire.

The aerial view of the wall is symbolic of a meeting place, while the open-sided nature of the curved structure is designed to be welcoming, with space for presentations to occur at the site. The design was developed in consultation with Elders and the community.

The current wall was constructed in 2023 to replace the previous incomplete wall which had become damaged. One particular highlight is the panels honouring the service in two world wars by the Lyons family, through the bravery of Tiger Lyons in the First World War and his sons Tommy and William, who were among the famous Rats of Tobruk in the Second World War.

This project is proudly funded by the Australian Government and Narrandera Shire Council.
Concept designs created by Dean Ingram.
