Monaro Fly Fishing Lodging and Guiding Service

Adventure and Outdoors Tours

Monaro Fly Fishing Lodging and Guiding Service is based in the Monaro region on the South Eastern Tablelands.

Offering fishing on two home-based lakes, joined by the headwaters of the Numeralla River and accommodation at Kungla Cottage, which is on this magnificent 400-acre property. The lakes have many resident Platypus which are more often than not within view.

Boasting world-class fishing to the visiting angler with wild brown trout of two – five pounds plus. Several slow-moving river systems shed the Monaro with shallow runs between series of deep, slow pools, and channels formed between Lilly pads and Elloura water grasses, giving educated brownies an abundant supply of various aquatic insects with beetles and other terrestrials making fly fishing the only way to trick these challenging educated fish.

This tests one’s ability to spot, stalk and cast undetected to cruising and stationary feeding fish which at times will test experienced anglers’ nerves and cunning ability. Local fly patterns designed, tested and proven are available if desired.

All fish caught are weighed and released after being photographed so you have a lasting memory of your experience.

Excellent camping areas for a more secluded and private stay.

Services

From the base site at Kungla, you will be transported to a Blue Ribbon fishing stream. A guide, instruction courses, and lunch are supplied.

Monaro Fly Fishing Tours believe in working hard for clients to get results. If that means getting onto the water before the first light and finishing on dark then that’s exactly what to expect, it’s up to the individual. This by no means is the only way they fish the Monaro, most clients like to be on the water from 9.30am until 3.30pm when the action usually slows.

It’s not unusual to find a pleasant area to lay around after lunch and rest until 5pm then prepare for the evening rise, finishing on dark. If the client would like you can head back where you can leisurely fish around the lakes or rest up around the cottage or anywhere on the property.
