Khancoban to Kiandra Drive

Natural Attractions

Khancoban to Kiandra drive crosses central Kosciuszko National Park as it connects Alpine Way with Snowy Mountains Highway. As it winds up through mountain forest to the alpine plains, there are plenty of attractions to break up the journey and make a day of it.

Historic huts, scenic campgrounds, bushwalking tracks, and trails for mountain biking and horse riding all tempt you to explore new areas of this vast and varied national park. Between Khancoban and Cabramurra, Australia’s highest town, the drive crosses two dams used in Snowy Mountains’ Hydro-Electric Scheme. Keep an eye out for reminders of Kosciuszko’s gold-seeking past at Kiandra, near the Snowy Mountains Highway.

If you’re up for a serious adventure, you can even venture into the wild and beautiful Jagungal Wilderness Area, or connect with Lob’s Hole Ravine 4WD trail, near Three Mile Dam campground.
