Being modern in layout and fit-out the museum showcases the town and district and the history of the lower Macquarie River.
There are displayed objects pertinent to the museum’s overarching theme. More information is available through interactive screens and there is a surround audio/visual immersive experience.
In addition to the museum there is a new, purpose built, building which is primarily, an art gallery but is a multifunctional space for art exhibitions, music performance and temporary exhibition of museum objects and the district’s history.
The gallery will be open to all artists to exhibit their works.
