Iandra Castle

Historical Sites and Heritage Locations

Iandra Castle is a large homestead between the villages of Greenethorpe and Monteagle in the heart of NSW. The closet major town is Young, located approximately 20 minutes away. Grenfell is located 25 minutes away while Cowra is approximately 40 minutes drive.

Iandra Castle is only open to the public on designated days – which are publicised on their website. The castle generally holds open days on the Sunday of a long weekend. Iandra Castle will also open for groups and coach tours on request.

Iandra Castle was built between 1908 and 1910 in the Federation Romanesque style by the pioneering engineer Edward Giles Stone. The homestead, with the surrounding agricultural property is a rare example in Australia of the manorial system.

The dwelling along with the surrounding stables, church and residences were listed on the New South Wales State Heritage Register in 2005.
