Channel Point Coastal Reserve

National Parks and Reserves

Channel Point Coastal Reserve is a 250 ha Reserve protecting coastal habitats between the Daly River mouth and Channel Point. The Wadjigan and Kiuk people are the Traditional Owners for this area.

The Reserve is 240km south west of Darwin and accessed via Litchfield National Park. Turn west just north of Wangi Falls and travel 67km along the unsealed Marindja Road.

The Reserve offers basic camping facilities, with 10 campsites, toilets and showers, communal fireplaces and a nearby boat ramp. It is most popular with self-sufficient anglers with a well equipped 4WD vehicle and boat. Anglers should have experience with Top End coastal winds, waters, shallow seas and large tidal ranges.

A booking is required to access Channel Point Coastal Reserve, for any visitors – day visits or overnight campers as well as persons accessing the Reserve by sea. A maximum of 10 vehicles are permitted in the Reserve at any time. Permits can be applied for up to 6 months in advance, and guests can stay a maximum of 14 nights. A key for the locked gate will be provided with booking confirmation. Bookings are made online.

Channel Point is usually open between May and November, but is dependant on wet season road access on the unsealed Marindja Road – check the NT Roads Report for updates.
