Operated by the bike shop and hire in Port Douglas, these mountain bike tours are uniquely self-guided. This enables the guest to ride at their own pace, never feeling pressured to either ride beyond their ability to keep up, or feeling impatient waiting for other guests to catch up.

Riders shuttled to the top of the trails and supplied with GPS based turn-by-turn navigation devices to guide them through the trails and their chosen route back to Port Douglas.

Guests have the choice of trails and attractions they want to enjoy. Rainforest trails, waterfalls and rock pools to swim in are many riders’ favourite experiences with the exhilarating 2km downhill Bump Track descent to finish the day.

Riders have the choice of top quality full-suspension mountain bikes and e-bikes. Helmets, gloves, backpacks emergency location beacon is all provided along with the shuttle to the trails.

Services

Beginning at Hartley’s Crocodile Farm (consider visiting before starting), a solid climb awaits initially to the top of the escarpment and onto Black Mountain rd. An optional detour off to Hartley’s Falls for a swim under the falls is well worth extra 4-5 kilometres. Black Mountain Road is a fire trail meandering through the rainforest below Black Mountain linking up the Bump Track descent into Port Douglas via the Mowbray Valley.

Technical difficulty : Easy to Intermediate (due to Bump Track steep descent)
Physical difficulty : Hard unless on e-bikes.

Disabled Access

This route combines some stunning rainforest single track, fire trail, some dirt road through tablelands cattle and cane country, a creek crossing and finishing off with the Bump Track descent into Port Douglas through the Mowbray Valley.

Minimum Distance : 30 kilometres (2.5-3.5 hours)
Technical difficulty : Easy to Intermediate (due to Bump Track steep descent)
Physical difficulty : Medium (300 metres total climbing).

This one is all about the rainforest. e-Bikes recommended for the 600 metre climb deep into this unique mountain rainforest. Mnt Lewis’ unique habitat hosts plant and wildlife rarely found elsewhere including the giant tree ferns, the musky rat-kangaroo, tree kangaroos and more. A short hike off the trail will reward you with a break alongside a natural rainforest lagoon high in the mountain. Then enjoy a 9 kilometre descent back to the start.

Physical difficulty : Easy on e-bike / Hard on standard bikes
