Fish Tales Charters offers tours in three locations from Cairns, Queensland.

Estuary fishing in Trinity Inlet, (The Cairns Harbour) Cairns,
River fishing on the Mulgrave and Russell Rivers and Mutchero Inlet (only 40 kms south of Cairns),
Reef fishing from Cairns onto the Great Barrier Reef.

Fish Tales Charters supply all top quality rods and reels, all bait (dead and/or live), bottles of water and you will be guided by the experienced fishing guide.

Wear a long sleeve cotton shirt and wide brim hat and to bring along your sunglasses, sunscreen, camera and a few beers are okay.

From half day charters to full days, multi days to multiple locations, share charters, private charters, live bait fishing to popper fishing, and for those who wish to learn to the experienced fisherperson wishing to broaden their knowledge.

The open waters, creeks and deep channel of the Cairns Estuary System are an extremely important part of the breeding cycle of juvenile fish. This offers exceptional fishing for adult species in the Cairns area. This State Marine Park is a natural habitat to deep holes, mudflats, snags and drop-offs for a wide variety of fish species.
Common estuary fish species Grunter, Fingermark, Blue & King Threadfin, Queenfish, Trevally, Mangrove Jack, Estuary Cod, Bream, Flathead, Hairtail, Tarpon, Mud Crab and the prize catch a Barramundi.

Only 40 kms south of Cairns, situate near Queensland highest mountain, Mt Bartle Freer, nestled amongst Russel River National park has some of the most breath taking scenery in Far North Queensland.
During May, June, July and August this can fish extremely well with Giant Queenfish and Giant Trevally moving around the river system.
Moving into September, October, November and December target species may including Trevally (refer to as GT), Queenfish, Mangrove jack, Fingermark and the famous Barramundi.
Full Day only.
Maximum of 4 people per charter.
From 6.30 am to 4.30 pm app.

Only a short distance from Cairns are numerous wrecks, reefs, and islands. There are a huge variety of fish species that inhabit these waters. Fishing methods include live bait, dead bait fishing, and bottom bouncing.
Common reef fishing species
Cobia, Trout species including Coral, Common to name a few, Fingermark, Reef Jack, Mackerel species including Spanish, School and Doggie to name a few, Trevally species including Giant, Blunger, Tea Leaf to name a few, Sweetlip, Nannygai including Large Mouth & Small Mouth, Emperor, Tuna to name a few.

On the reef edges and bommies, with the low tide exposing, the sun shining, you cast your popper or lure, the battle begins! Giant Trevally commonly referred to as GT`s as natural hunters, this is the ultimate Sportfishing on the Great Barrier Reef from Cairns in Queensland. Bring out the natural hunter in you, yes, you will have to work hard all day! Not only will they continually smash poppers, they will ambush deep diving lures, in, under and around structures; all done with great speed, hard fights and mind blowing runs. To add to the fun, the GT maybe on it`s own or in schools, shoulder charging through the water in pursuit of your popper/lure. While conditions have to be right, is it your turn to experience the mighty GT or GT`s caught on Popper .Let the fun begin!

From 6.30 am to 3.00 am
We supply all rods & reels, all lures & poppers (supplied on basis if lost to be replaced), lunch and bottles of water and you will be guided by our experienced fishing guide.
