K’gari Walking Tours is K’gari’s (Fraser Island) only supported hiking company, with permits to help hikers along the K’gari Great Walk track system and walkers camps. Through their experience and knowledge, K’gari Walking Tours has tailor-made hiking packages to suit all types of hikers, ranging from 12 (accompanied) to 60 years old and above.

Through their three different tiers of hiking, they offer a range of packages for small groups of hikers, offering a diverse niche product that traverses the ever-changing landscapes that Fraser Island has to offer.

Don’t have a lot of time!? Or just want to do a short hike, well this is for you! Their Lake McKenzie Circuit two day hike allows you to see the best sights in just two days. During this hike you will be able to explore the world famous Lake McKenzie, Lake Wabby and lush tropical rainforests! This hike is supported with an on-the-ground guide who will pick you up and drop you off, set up your camp and cook your dinner – what more could you want!

This walk operates twice a month during hiking season (March – November), and on request subject to availability. Dates and prices may change depending on availability and season.

See and experience Fraser Island from a unique perspective, discover rarely explored paths, sparking and heightening your senses to the sounds and scents of the environs.

Itinerary:
DAY 1 – Welcome day, Costal Walk, McKenzies Jetty.
Walking distance: Around 6 kilometres, 4WD: Around 5 kilometres, Walking time: 2 to 3 hours, Easy.

DAY 2 – Lake Garawongera, Valley of the Giants.
Walking distance: Around 10 – 12 kilometres, 4WD: Around 30 – 40 kilometres, Walking time: 6 hours, Easy-Moderate.

DAY 3 – Dilli Village, Lake Boomanjin, Lake Benaroon.
Walking distance: Around 15 kilometres, 4WD: Around 30 kilometres, Walking time: 6 hours.

DAY 4 – Lake McKenzie, Basin Lake, Pile Valley.
Walking distance: Around 10 kilometres, 4WD: Around 20 kilometres, Walking time: 3.5/4 hours – Moderate.

This hike explores six perched freshwater lakes: Lake Boomanjin, Lake Benaroon, Lake Birrabeen, Basin Lake and Lake McKenzie, with countless swimming opportunities. As you walk, enjoy the quiet wonders of the tracks as you explore ancient rainforests and pristine lakes. Be some of the only people to enjoy an epic sunrise and sunset at Lake McKenzie, an unforgettable memory. This hike also has the option to extend an additional night to explore the Pile Valley area.

Embark upon an amazing 4 day/3 night hike where you walk under some of the largest living trees on Fraser Island in the spectacular Valley of the Giants. Part of the hike is dedicated to exploring the two largest trees on the Island – the Giant Satinay and the Giant Tallowood. The remaining time of the hike is dedicated to swimming in Fraser Islands must do perched lakes, Lake McKenzie and Lake Wabby. As you walk under the forest giants from location to location, you will pass through incredible stands of brush box and satinay trees, open forest, heathland and untouched rainforest.
