Lake Proserpine

National Parks and Reserves

Just 30 minutes inland from Proserpine is Lake Proserpine. An ideal spot for watersports and freshwater fishing. Lake Proserpine is renowned as home to more one metre plus barramundi than any other impoundment in Australia! The submerged branches and structure surrounding the lake make it the ideal spot for other species like sooty grunter, sleepy cod, and saratoga.

It is recommend purchase a Stocked Impoundment Permit Scheme (SIPS) permit prior to arriving at the Lake.

Camping is available for self-contained vehicles. Campers that are not self-contained can use the toilets and amenities block north of the camping area. Maximum seven night stay.

Glamping Tents are set up in a specially allocated location at Lake Proserpine, where the lake and mountain views are guaranteed to impress you.

Shared campsite toilets and warm showers are located nearby for your convenience as is a kiosk for essential items as well as snacks and food options.

Bring your crab pots too because redclaw and freshwater crayfish also inhabit the lake. There is a concrete boat ramp to take craft up to eight metres situated next to the barbecue areas.

All this lies a short drive from Airlie Beach, the launchpad to the famous Whitsunday Islands and Great Barrier Reef, so once you’ve had your fill of barramundi there are 74 Whitsunday Islands to explore off the coast.
