The Winter Wetlands is a small, private, sanctuary, opposite the Kuitpo Forest. At its best in the Winter months when the wetlands come to life, guests can enjoy the company of the resident Western Grey kangaroo, many possums (both ring-tail and brush-tail), native burrowing rats, and a plethora of birdlife including favourites such as blue wrens, fairy wrens, and a resident family of chuffs. Guests also enjoy kicking back around the campfire overlooking the dam, as they listen to the crickets and frogs in the evenings.
The Winter Wetlands is NOT a ‘caravan park’. It is only suitable for Motorhomes or Campervans, 7.5m long, with their own toilet and grey water. Not suitable for Caravans, Trailers or Tents.
Close to: Kuitpo Forest, McLaren vale wine region, TreeClimb (Kuitpo), Echunga Goldfields, Historic township of Hahndorf.
They request that guests leave no sign of visitation, and take all waste with them.
Please understand that our business model and insurance policy have stringent conditions attached. They can not accommodate guests with caravans, trailers, tents, pets or children.

All bookings for Forest Gate Winter Wetlands are handled by Hipcamp.com. They add additional charges for taxes and booking fees, and sites are usually $30.
