The 1837 Barossa winery holds a rich historical presence. It commemorates the date on which Colonel William Light, founder of Adelaide and first Surveyor-General of South Australia named the Barossa in December 1837. The Barossa Colonel Light Monument, a life-size bronze monument of Colonel Light on horseback and the iconic Barossa Manor honour the birthplace of Barossa on the estate. A tribute to which 1837 wine makers dedicate their wines year after year. Unrivalled, sweeping views of the picturesque Barossa Valley are what waits you as you enter through the gates of this Barossa landmark destination. From the moment you arrive up the long driveway you are instantly encapsulated by the stunning architecture of the historic building that perfectly combines antiquity with modern designs.
The 1837 Barossa wine experience is a premium wine experience around our world-famous wine region. Take a break and enjoy our 1 hour, 2 hour, 4 hours or 5 hours Ultimate Wine Experience. Embark on a sensory journey through a curated tasting. Learn about the history of the Barossa and how to appreciate wines. This wine experiences are available from Wednesdays to Sundays. Embark on a sensory journey through a curated tasting of 8 premium wines with a member of our wine experiences team who will teach you on how to appreciate wines and takes you through the history of the estate.
