Walk Local is a small group tour company offering travellers unforgettable active holidays through Italy and now Australia’s Barossa Valley. With many tours to choose from, either multi-day backpack walking, one & two day walks or in the comfort of a spacious minivan, you will experience the incredible natural beauty, fabulous regional food and wine and unique local culture that both Italy and the Barossa Valley have to offer. Join us as we uncover the local delights with a small group of 8-10 like-minded travellers. This is a spectacular 15km walk with views of the Barossa Valley, walking through the great Australian bush with iconic flora & fauna, picnic on local Barossa produce and taste boutique Barossa wines.

Join Walk Local on this fully escorted day walk. Guests will be driven to the starting point in the wine area of Pewsey Vale where we walk along gravel tracks past vineyards, farmlands and forests before entering the Kaiserstuhl Conservation Park.

The walking trails within this park pass through a variety of landscapes including creeks, rocky outcrops, areas of low forest, scrub and open grassland. The park has panoramic views across the ranges to the Barossa Valley, stopping here for morning tea.

We leave the Conservation Park we wind our way down the hills with glorious views over the Barossa Valley stopping at Bethany for our picnic lunch enjoying famous Barossa produce.

After lunch we walk to Bethany Wines and Turkey Flat vineyard for wine tastings.

This is a fabulous 13km walk through the spectacular Barossa Valley, starting in Pewsey Vale walking on gravel paths past vineyards and forests and great Australian bushland of Kaiserstuhl Conservation park. From the park we head down over the rolling hills with glorious views down the valley.

Stopping at Bethany for our picnic lunch made up of local Barossa produce. Bethany, founded in 1842, is the Barossa’s oldest settlement and a village sealed in time. Home to 300 souls, the focal point of this tight-knit community remains the Herberge Christi Lutheran Church under the steady hand of Pastor David Gogoll. As we continue our walk you will learn about the history of this unique village following the Bethany Heritage Trail leading us to the Icon of the Barossa Valley – Château Tanunda.

Château Tanunda’s Cellar Door in the heart of the historic and atmospheric cellar amongst hundreds of barrels of maturing wine and join the Historical Tour. Explore the birthplace of the Barossa where the first vineyards were planted, and discover 130 years of winemaking traditions spanning three centuries before enjoying a relaxed and enjoyable the premium wine tasting experience.

Our walk ends in the main street of Tanunda.

Join Walk Local on this one day walk starting in Tanunda where we join the Tanunda Heritage Walk through Tanunda. Historic photos and tales of the early days of the Barossa offer a rare insight into a unique part of Australia. There are six markers in total and there are lots of opportunities to visit cafés, galleries and other shops along the journey.

We leave Tanunda following gently undulating back roads and tracks with views of the Barossa, passing vineyards, a visit to Whistler wines, historical nineteenth-century buildings and natural bushland to the little town of Greenock.

We enjoy a traditional pub lunch at the recently revamped Greenock Creek Hotel, or known by locals as ‘The Greenock’ is the centre point of the town for locals and tourists alike.

With two wineries to visit this afternoon in Greenock. Kalleske’s and Murray Street Wines all a short walk from the pub.

Guests are transported back to Tanunda at the end of the day.

This is a fabulous day out in the Barossa. Enjoy this perfect 8km walk crossing the open hills of the Barossa Range overlooking delightful views of Kaiserstuhl and Mt Crawford Forest, the Barossa Valley and beyond. The walk passes the Steingarten – Garden of Stones – vineyard. Jacobs Creek and Steingarten are well-known brand names of the Orlando Winery which has been located at the foot of this hill since 1877. We enjoy picnic lunch overlooking the views. Guests are then transported to Jacobs Creek Vineyard where you will walk & taste before walking back to Tanunda via St Hallets Winery for our second tasting.

Join Walk Local on this beautiful one day walk on the fabulous Lavender Federation Trail. An 18km loop through the Eden Valley.

Surrounded by rolling hills and stands of ancient red gums, Eden Valley is known as the ‘Garden of Grapes and Gums’. At first glance, Eden Valley is a quaint and quiet little town, but look closely and you’ll see a bustling world of hidden vineyards, contoured through the scenic hillsides to produce some of the region’s most prestigious cool-climate wines.

Stopping enroute for morning tea admiring the views and then again for our picnic lunch enjoying famous Barossa produce.
In the afternoon we are transported to The Henschke Cellar Door, housed in the original 1860s Grain Barn at the family property in Keyneton was built from fieldstone and mud by first-generation winemaker Johann Christian Henschke, a stonemason and wheelwright by trade, and an early pioneer of South Australia.

As you taste through a line-up of beautiful wines in these intimate surrounds, watched over by portraits of Henschke forebears, you will feel very connected to the six generations of family who have contributed to the success of Henschke.

Guests starts and finishes in Angaston.

The Barossa food story is a multi-faceted, continually evolving ode to seasonality and regionality. It tells of fruit ripened to perfection and vegetables bursting with real flavour. Of milk and cheese that taste of goodness and of poultry, pork and lamb that are fed well and nurtured with kindness. Of artisan food prepared with care and passion. Our picnic lunch showcases the very best of the Barossa.

In the afternoon we travel back to the town of Angaston to the Barossa Cheese Company where we do a wine and cheese pairing.

Join Walk Local on this two-day walk starting in Tanunda, following the back roads of the Barossa, passing vineyards, wineries and historic nineteenth-century buildings and natural Australian bushland. The trail crosses a creek lined with gumtrees before arriving in Greenock – a historic village that was once a busy crossroad. In Greenock, we enjoy a cold beer at Greenock Brewers and a classic Aussie pub lunch at The Greenock Hotel. In the afternoon we enjoy a guided wine tasting at Kalleske’s Vineyard and Murray Street Wines before relaxing at your pre-booked B & B accommodation in Greenock. Your evening is free to enjoy many of the wonderful eateries in the Barossa Valley.

Day 2 we continue our walk to Kapunda after your continental breakfast. From Greenock, walkers will notice the vineyards start to peter out and be replaced by rolling farmland. Following a series of minor country roads & tracks, the trail climbs passing through dense forest on the climb.

The trail then traverses more farmland. Just out of Kapunda, the trail joins a track that then becomes a minor road, en-route walkers will visit the Old Kapunda Mine, established in 1844, the first significant copper mine in Australia’s history.
