Holowiliena Station Tours

Cultural and Theme Tours

Holowiliena is a Flinders Ranges sheep station owned by the same family since 1852 – that’s before Burke met Wills! Our family now offers fully guided tours of the historic buildings, specially tailored to the needs of your group.

Guests will hear about local and station history over a cup of tea on the homestead veranda, before enjoying a walking tour of the historic buildings. Our guides live and work on the station, happily sharing their stories and those of the generations before. Lucky guests may even find The Outback Blacksmith at work in the forge!

We now also offer homestead-style catering, accommodation for tour guests and home produce for sale from our cellar.

Services

Holowiliena Station History Tours are fully tailored to the needs of each group.

Our basic tour package includes:
– Morning tea on the homestead veranda
– An entertaining local and station history talk from one of the family members who live on the station
– Fully guided tour of the historic buildings around the homestead

Our tours are suited to bus trips, 4WD clubs, history enthusiasts and family groups holidaying in the beautiful Flinders Ranges. We are very child friendly!

We recommend a catered lunch for large groups to make the most of your day.

Small groups might wish to stay in the station accommodation, or camp on the property.

Our ever-popular tour of the historic station buildings will inform and delight!

All our guides live on the station and have plenty of local knowledge – you’ll hear about life on a sheep station today and the stories we’ve gathered since 1852.

This short walking tour will take you through the old station store, blacksmith’s shop, pine cottage and the 1856 built cellar in the bank of the gum creek.

Each and every tour is tailored to the group. We welcome you to our home as guests who are sharing our story.
