Minlacowie Water Tank Mural

Landmarks and Buildings

Completed in March 2023, standing at 5.8m high and almost 100 metres around, the gigantic Minlacowie Water Tank Mural was created by Mike Makatron, assisted by Conrad Bizjak, Harley Hall, Dylan Butler, Jason Swales and Sabine Meyer. The design was based on widespread consultation with the local community and Narungga Elders.

Showcasing some of the best of what Yorke Peninsula has to offer, the Minlacowie water tank art strongly reflects the region’s Narungga culture, rich agricultural landscapes and natural beauty. Incorporating Narungga totem animals the kanagaroo, emu, shark and eagle, linework and symbol for ‘community’, as well as local flora, coastal scenery and much more, the quality and scale of this mural needs to be seen in person.

Make the journey to this art mural on its own or make a day of it and take on the Southern Yorke Peninsula Water Tower Mural Trail, a self-drive loop starting from Minlacowie.
