Wurgarri (Mount Sturgeon) Walk

National Parks and Reserves

Wurgarri (Mount Sturgeon) is positioned at the southernmost point of the Gariwerd (Grampians) National Park and is one of two outstanding peaks towering over the town of Dunkeld.

This walk, suitable for fit and energetic walkers, involves water crossings, slippery track surfaces and rock hopping. Follow the path up through open woodland. Several steep sections lead through rocky terrain and stunted vegetation towards the top.

Be warned – there is a false peak on the walk but keep going to reach the summit and you will be rewarded with panoramic views of the surrounding ranges and volcanic plains, and Dunkeld township.

Return by the same route.
