The grave of father to the infamous Ned Kelly, ‘Red’ Kelly’s final resting place can be found in the Avenel Cemetery.

John ‘Red’ Kelly passed away in 1866 at an age of 46 shortly after being released from 6 months in jail for the charge of ‘unlawful possession of a hide’.

He earned the nickname of ‘Red’ for his red hair.

This grave marks one stop on the Ned Kelly Trail throughout the region.
