Walpole-Nornalup Inlet

Natural Attractions

Venture into the wilderness of the Walpole-Nornalup Inlet for a fishing, canoeing, kayaking, boating, windsurfing, or hiking adventure.

The south coast town of Walpole sits on the smallest of the inlets, just one-and-a-half hours’ drive from Albany and under five hours’ drive from Perth. If you’re bringing your own craft, there are several access ramps at the inlets.

On foot, you can take in this karri, marri and tingle tree wilderness one incredible step at a time on one of the world’s great long distance walk trails – the Bibbulmun Track. Follow its path all the way from Perth, or just tackle a small coastal section of the track for a day or two.

On the water, you’ll discover the Walpole Inlet is quite shallow (up to one metre), while the larger Nornalup Inlet to the south is larger and deeper (up to five metres). It’s here you’ll find some of the best black bream fishing in the State – casting from the shoreline or from a boat.

At the water’s edge, there’s also a string of beauty spots where you can stop for a picnic, stroll, fish or swim.
