Join the local mob of kangaroos on Heirisson Island, just a hop and a skip from the city of Perth, and prepare for an incredible inner-city twist on hiking. This is your chance to escape to the simplicity of the great outdoors, with this urban adventure on Heirisson Island and Matagarup. The area, known as Matagarup, refers to the place where the river is only leg deep, and once comprised of a small chain of islands and surrounding mudflats. As we wander this 8-kilometer trail along the river, over the Matagarup bridge, and across the island, you will catch a glimpse of the statue of Whadjuk Noongar warrior Yagan, erected to recognise Yagan’s strong leadership and resistance fighting during the early years of the Swan River Colony, and finish with the ‘bust of Baudin’ and uncover just how European settlement and discovery looked.

Head out to enjoy a 4-kilometre hiking loop over undulating rocky outcrops near trickling streams, along the darling scarp at Lesmurdie Falls in Mundy Regional Park. Put your feet up for a rest as they arrive at the foot of the falls, as you marvel at the amazing beauty of the waterfall. Then journey back up the hill begins as you head to the hidden lookout spot to enjoy sunset.

Join them on a beautiful 10 kilometre guided hike experience along the famous Bibbulmun Track on arguably the best day hike around Perth. Explore the iconic track from Sullivan Rock to Mount Vincent and Mount Cuthbert, with a magnificent showcase of lush Jarrah and the relatively rare Darling Range ghost gum or butter gum. As the name suggests, they will encounter two great climbs so prepare yourself for some challenges, and of course incredible views when you get to the summit of the two peaks.

The Bibbulmun Track is one of the world’s great long distance walk trails, stretching 1000 kilometre from Kalamunda in the Perth Hills, to Albany on the south coast, winding through the heart of the scenic South West of Western Australia.

Take a breathtaking walk through the treetops as you walk along the Lottery West Federation Walkway, also known as the “glass bridge” with striking artwork celebrating the Centenary of Federation, Aboriginal Culture and the magnificent trees of the Swan Coastal Plain.

After your beautiful hike along hidden paths and promenades, sit back and relax with a Devonshire tea or freshly brewed coffee and a homemade cake or scone at the Zamia Cafe.

This moderate 6.5 kilometre hiking tour will take you through the magnificence of Paruna Sanctuary. The 2,000 hectare property predominantly follows the southern banks of the Avon River.

This picturesque sanctuary is often characterised by its extremely steep slopes, numerous streams and creek lines, and areas of exposed granite. Don’t let the steep slopes fool you though, as this impeccably kept hiking hot-spot has steps-a-plenty, and gorgeous views.

This hike is not for the faint-hearted! This detailed and well-maintained trail will surely provide all trail seekers with a spectacular and challenging hiking experience, and worth every step.

Nestled in the heart of Serpentine National Park, Baldwins Bluff is a hidden gem. With lush Jarrah forrest, challenging gradients and breathtaking views, this trail will be sure to impress. View the famous Serpentine Falls from the top as you balance on granite outcrops at the summit.

Bells Rapids is situated where the Avon and Swan rivers meet in the northern reaches of the Swan Valley.

From the top of the road you get your first glimpses of the idyllic valley that is Jumbuck Hill Park. With gushing rapids on the Swan River through the wet months and an intricate path of glimmering rock, drift wood and calm pools in the dry months, their 5 kilometre hike at Bells rapids is not to be missed.

With grey kangaroos bouncing through the wildflowers, Bells Rapids is just a 40 minute drive from Perth, and has an iconic walk bridge spanning the Swan River over the white water rapids making this an exciting viewing spot.

Explore the history and heritage of Perth on their urban Coast to River Guided Hike on the Wardun Beelier Bidi. This trail makes up part of the Wadjuk Trail Network.

Traverse 18 kilometres on this urban adventure linking bushland with iconic Noongar and Heritage Trails, and immerse yourself in the diverse landscape and natural settings. From sweeping ocean views at Cottesloe beach to Devils Elbow Cave in Peppermint Grove, marvel at raptors and waterbirds as they weave through ecological corridors of flora and fauna.

They head to Buckland Hill Reserve, one of the highest points in Perth which was used as an observation point by Willem de Vlamingh when he landed near Cottesloe Beach in 1696. Explore the history of the Leighton Battery bunker with tunnel complexes and gun placements before they reach Mudurup, one of many points along the Perth Coastline where ceremonies relating to the Kuranup ( Noongar Heaven) took place and a registered ceremonial site with mythological significance for Noongar people.
