Sandstone Cemetery

Historical Sites and Heritage Locations

The first burial at the cemetery occurred in March 1908, a 10-month-old baby named Horace Mahood. His grave is marked with ornate cast iron railings.

The cemetery has continued use with the last burial in 2023; although most are from the early days of Sandstone. There are four main sections, separated by religion, and the Outback Grave Markers have recently laid plaques with information on who rests in each plot (where known).
