Cruise Terminals and Airports

Flights to Mitchell Plateau bring you within easy reach of this epic landscape of ancient escarpments, lush tropical rainforests and the breathtaking four-tiered falls of Mitchell Falls.

It’s one of the few airstrips on the Kimberley Aerial Highway that are accessible all year round. Scenic flights operate from Kununurra and Broome to Mitchell Plateau airstrip, giving you the opportunity to picnic at the falls, hike the trail to Little Mertens Falls and Big Mertens Falls, and enjoy a refreshing swim.

A scenic flight in the green season, February and March, showcases the falls at its thundering peak. Charter flights are also available between May and September for those wishing to extend their adventure with a stay at the wilderness lodge.

From Kununurra, your flight may give you an eagle’s eye view of the Cockburn Range, King George Falls, Berkeley River and Cambridge Gulf. From Broome, your tour may take you over the impressive King Cascade, Prince Regent River, Montgomery Reef and the world’s only horizontal waterfalls in Talbot Bay.

Select guided tours also take a detour to view some of the earliest figurative paintings on Earth, the Gyorn Gyorn (Bradshaw) Paintings (Bradshaws) believed to be 60,000 years old.
