Customised for all age groups and learning levels, engage with the living Arrernte culture – the First Nations people of Mparntwe (Alice Springs) – to discover how Indigenous Knowledge is informing the development of processes and technologies that progress the sustainability of desert and arid zone living.
Begin at the Solar Centre – a global testing facility for a range of solar panel models, providing data access to solar-tech companies around the world.
Visit the Centre for Appropriate Technology which, in collaboration with Geoscience Australia, runs the first and only Aboriginal-owned Satellite Ground Station in Australia – part of a global network of Real Time Earth stations providing data for disaster management.
Hear from the leaders of the Batchelor Institute about their ‘both ways’ philosophy of education, which embraces Indigenous traditional knowledge and Western academic disciplines in a respectful and culturally-inclusive teaching practise.
Take a moment at the Garden of Reflection to acknowledge the Stolen Generations Memorial. Enjoy interactive learning activities to school tours for enhanced learning about solar-powered technologies, drone mapping, Indigenous symbols in art, and hack-a-thon style challenges that test their STEM capabilities.

A full day educational tour caters for all age groups and learning levels and engages visitors with the living Arrernte culture – the First Nations people of Mparntwe (Alice Springs) – to discover how Indigenous Knowledge is informing the development of processes and technologies that progress the sustainability of desert and arid zone communities, both within Australia and around the world.
