Just six minutes’ drive from town, Chinaman Creek Dam is the perfect place to start your exploration of Cloncurry’s natural gifts. From your stand-up paddle board or kayak, glide along the dam exploring its shoreline filled with kangaroos and birds.

There is a 4.3km concreted walking and bike track that runs along the northern shore of the dam. The walk offers beautiful views and sprinkles of seasonal wildflowers. Taking approximately 1.5 hours, it’s an easy way to soak in Cloncurry’s natural beauty. Chinaman Creek Dam is perfect for bird lovers. Spot Brolgas, Egrets, Ducks, Cormorants and the Cloncurry Parrot.

The dam has something for the whole family! The recreation area has a fabulous playground, picnic area and BBQs, amenities, a boat ramp and more.
