Chamel Fields Farm Stay
Where To Stay Kyeema, Alexandrina, South Australia
Chamel Fields, home to ‘Adopt a Horse Holiday’ offers a family friendly farm experience with the opportunity for each guest to care for a miniature horse of their choice during their stay, chosen from a large herd of miniature horses, and to get involved in the activities of farm life as they wish, including feeding all the animals. The farm also runs a herd of Dexter cattle, has chickens, bantams (including 3 roosters who love cuddles),a pig, a goat, 3 sheep, a mini-donkey, a friendly “Oddball’ dog (Mareema) and a Papillon pup.
Chamel Fields is an organic farm on 30 acres with two accommodation options – a 1930’s refurbished two bedroom cottage and a spacious newly converted wooden barn which can sleep 13, an ideal setting for a family reunion.
The Heysen Trail runs along the ridge and through Kuitpo forest across the road, the Vales winery district is 15 minutes away, as is McLaren Vale with many restaurant choices. The Victor Harbor tourist area is forty minutes south and the beach 20 minutes west.
The highlight for most families, however, is the opportunity for lots of hands-on experiences with the animals and birds. Many families return again to re-visit their ‘adopted’ horses.
‘This is the best day of my life so far’ one young guest wrote in the guest book.
