Huon Pine Walk – Great Short Walk

National Parks and Reserves

Huon Pine Walk is one of Tasmania’s 60 Great Short Walks. The 60 Great Short Walks offer the best of Tasmania’s day walking opportunities.

20 minutes return, 600m return. Grade 1. May be suitable for wheelchair users who have someone to assist them.

At the southern edge of the takayna / Tarkine, this short walk follows the banks of the mysteriously dark Pieman River through thick and tangled forest. The short walk starts near the small settlement of Corinna, and winds through rainforest to a viewing platform. An old Huon pine specimen hangs over the Pieman River. The vegetation that climbs up from the riverbank shows off almost every shade of green, and is reflected beautifully in the dark waters of the Pieman.

Please refer to the Parks and Wildlife Service Tasmania website (parks.tas.gov.au) for up-to-date information about this walk, alerts, closures, safe walking guidelines, leave no trace principles and National Park entry fees where applicable.
