Kakadu Billabong Safari Camp is a 100% Aboriginal owned and operated family business, on Murumburr Clan Country. Our homelands are situated in the heart of Kakadu National Park, on the edge of the Jim Jim River system.
Join our Murumburr family on a range of guided Kakadu tours, community cultural workshops and overnight experiences, all designed to immerse your senses in our ancient living culture and outstanding natural environment.

Step back in time to discover the ancient stories of the sacred Burrungkuy (Nourlangie) rock art site on this immersive tour with a local Kakadu Bininj guide.

Walk together through this timeless landscape, learning about Creation Ancestors through to caring for Country today. Hear stories about life in Kakadu and see Country from a Bininj perspective as the landscapes change throughout the seasons.

Duration: 1.5 hour tour.

Location: Visitors will need to meet their Bininj tour guide at the Burrungkuy (Nourlangie) car park shelter.

Spend the morning with Cultural Custodians of the Murumburr Clan on their traditional lands, a unique opportunity to visit one of Kakadu’s Aboriginal communities.

Itinerary: Welcome to Country: Take a guided walking tour of the billabong and community and learn about the history of the Murumburr clan families and their country. Enjoy an immersive Welcome to Country ceremony and hear stories of diverse clans traveling throughout the landscape.

Billy Tea and Damper: Gather around the fire for traditional Billy Tea and Damper, and engage in conversations with fellow travelers and the local community.

Men’s and Women’s Cultural Activities: Men can participate in painting and craft making, while women can learn the art of weaving using locally collected dried Pandanus plant dyed with natural colors. Each guest will create a unique gift to take home.

Visit Old Patonga Community School Art Gallery: Marvel at and acquire remarkable art pieces such as woven Pandanus earrings and bangles, paintings by talented local artists, and an array of authentic and distinctive works.

The Kakadu Billabong Safari Camp is located on the edge of a billabong complex along beautiful Jim Jim Creek wetlands. A private and unique safari camping experience overlooking the billabong on Murumburr Clan Country.

See Country through Bininj eyes, learn about community life, hear about the buffalo days and the Patonga Homestead story. Enjoy some damper and billy tea with our family as we teach you some of our Men’s and Women’s cultural activities.

Travel to your exclusive home in the bush for the evening, Kakadu Billabong Safari Camp. Enjoy dinner under a blanket of stars and share a few stories while you relax by the campfire.
Sleep in our comfortable Safari Tent with lights and beds (linen supplied). Shared eco toilets and solar hot water shows.

Wake to an orchestra of bird song in the morning and breakfast as you look out over the billabong.
